Cracked Ice

Cracked Ice

Materials needed for this tutorial:
PaintShop Pro
An image of your choice

For this tutorial you will also need Xenofex 1.1 Plugin. This is the plugin that will give you the "tissue paper" effect. Eye Candy recently released Xenofex version 2 and is no longer offering the 1st version as a trial download .. so to find Xenofex 1.1, submit " Xenofex 1.1" to a search engine and I am sure you can find it if you do not have this plugin.

  1. File - New Transparent Image - 600 x 600, flood fill with white. Layers New Layer, Selection Tool, Tolerance 10, feather, Anti Alias unchecked, Rounded rectangle or whatever you wish!
  2. You draw a selection within the Image box keeping it well away from the edge of your image. You are drawing a sheet of paper.
  3. Open the graphic you are going to use, pick one colors from the graphic. Two if you are making two layers in this instance. Flood fill the selected area with one of the colors you have chosen. Keep selected
  4. Go to Effects - Plug-ins, Xenofex Crumpled - find the preset for Wax Paper, Apply default settings, Selections - select none
  5. Go again to Xenofex - Shower Door, from the presets choose Prism. Drop the dot size down to 28
  6. Apply. Effects - Edge Enhance - Enhance More
  7. Now if your layer is a little too large - Image Resize all layers unchecked, 95%. Image_Rotate - Free Rotate, about 20 degrees. **All layers unchecked** - in either direction
  8. Layers New Raster Layer. Now make your second layer slightly smaller than your first. Fill with the other color and repeat the steps as before with the other layer!
  9. Go to your layers and, using the sliders drop the opacity on these layers to about 70 or so depending on the effect you want. Do this to each layer to get the cracked glass look.
  10. Add your tube and Text!
  11. Add a slight dropped soft shadow under each layer. When you have resized your graphic and merged all your layers simply go to Adjust - Sharpen, *Not* edge Enhance this time as this will make it too sharp.

Hope you have fun with this!
